The third annual Aloha Boardshop Honolulu Fish Fry, presented by Redbull,
takes place on the weekend of July 11th (Friday), 12th (Saturday), and 13th (Sunday) at Kuhio Beach, Waikiki (Queens). We’re very happy to announce that this will be our first ever full 3 day weekend event! The contest will once again celebrate the classic “fish tail” shape of custom hand shaped surf boards, as well as hybrid shapes of our modern surf culture that owe their roots to that original design. All contestants will be required to compete on a fish style or hybrid style surfboard with twin or quad fin set-up, provided by Aloha Boardshop and donated by Oahu’s top local custom surfboard shapers from all around the island. Contestants will draw “raffle style” from a “fish board” bowl to determine their designated surfboard for each heat.
First 36 team entries will be accepted. Deadline for early entry is June 30, 2014. Each four person team entry fee is $160 for early entry, and $200 for late (after June 30th) or beach entry (at event). All entry fees include a complimentary contest T-shirt and sponsor provided “goodie bag”. The contest is set to start at 7:00 am, Friday morning.

On July 13th, an event fueled by fun, courage, and a little bit of madness will be debuted in the Hawaiian islands at the birthplace of modern surfing, Waikiki Beach. Red Bull Party Wave is a surf competition that will challenge teams to create, build, and then collectively surf on a man-made vessel, not to mention they’ll have to be in costume and perform a skit on the beach as well. Red Bull is on the hunt for the most ingenious, innovative, and downright wacky surfing crafts and team themes to ride this wave. Approximately 20 teams will be selected to compete in this first-of-its-kind clash.
